About Department
Faculty of Engineering &
Technology (FET), Gomal University, D.I.Khan, formerly known as
Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), has started its
journey in 2010. Within the short span of time, FET emerged as
leading faculty of the Gomal University. The students are
groomed in an academic friendly environment by its outstanding
faculty in the field of Engineering. Keeping in view its
distinctive contribution in educating the youth of Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) awarded it the
permission to start the Electrical Engineering program.
Currently, Electrical Engineering program has been accredited in 2015. This institution offers
Electrical Engineering with specialization in Telecommunication.
The institution is fully equipped with modern laboratories. The
FET is dedicated to imparting high quality education with
emphasis on demand-oriented skill-development and training under
excellent conditions of learning. Its educational programs are
designed to enable the students and servicemen to develop skills
and competence in their respective areas of specialization
obtain broad-based, cross-functional education with due emphasis
on developing critical, analytical and logical thinking, and
knowledge of societal matters.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOS)
The following Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) describes
that the graduates of BS Electrical Engineering Program are
expected to achieve within a few years after graduation:
PEO 1
|
Attain an ability to identify and solve
challenging problems in their professions by applying
theory, principles and tools learnt during degree
program.
|
PEO 2
|
Manage projects and become effective members of
engineering teams through inter-personal skills.
|
PEO 3
|
Demonstrate high moral and ethical values,
life-long learning attitude and societal
responsibilities.
|
1.1 Alignment of PEOs with Vision and
Mission Statements
The PEOs are published on the
institution’s website, prospectus and department. The vision and
mission of the department are consistent with the defined PEOs;
Figure 1.1 shows the PEOs conformity with the vision and mission
of the EED department. The mapping of PEOs with Vision and
Mission is given in Table 1.1 and 1.2.

Striving to Ensure the Best Engineering and
technological Education
|
The Faculty of Engineering and Technology aims
at providing quality education to the students.
The academic programs at FET focus on the
scientific and theoretical foundations to produce
professionals with meticulous understanding of the
fundamental concepts and capabilities of applying
this knowledge for research and design.
|
The mission
of the Electrical Engineering Department is to
prepare professionals who are ready to embark a wide
range of career opportunities in industries and
research, both nationally and internationally, in
all fields of Electrical Engineering
|
Manage projects and
become effective members of engineering teams
through inter-personal skills.

1.1
Preparation/Review of PEOs
The
PEOs are reviewed by the committee. The
suggestions/recommendations regarding PEOs are submitted for
approval to academic bodies such as the Board of Studies
(BoS), Board of Faculty (BoF), and academic council. The
PEOs would be reviewed after few years, according to the
feedback from the stakeholders.
1.2 Processes for Evaluating Attainment
of PEOs
The attainment of PEOs is
evaluated through appropriate measurement tools and
performance indicators. The measurement tools for
assessing PEO achievement are the alumni, and employer
survey forms. The PEOs attainments are
evaluated from the measurable performance
indicators that are extracted from the surveys.
The indicators are revised and updated following the proper
process for establishing and reviewing the PEOs, as shown in
Figure 1.2.

establish and review of PEOs
1.3 On-going Evaluation of PEOs
In order to ensure the PEOs
attainment achieved in graduates career path, it is
necessary to prepare students with the appropriate POs.
These POs are supported by the courses outcomes that have
been identified in the curriculum structure. Achievement of
the PEOs will be closely monitored through employer and
alumni surveys. Table 1.3 summarizes the assessment
tools will be implemented in assessing the PEOs of the BEE
program.

(a)
Employer Survey
This
survey is carried out to get the perception of the employers
regarding the needs of additional skills of our graduates
working in their companies. The new survey has been developed;
which comprises of two parts; the first is to have the industry
perceptions on the proposed PEOs while the second is to have
feedbacks on the expected skills and capability that the
industry wants from our graduates.
(b)
Alumni Survey (Tracer Study)
An Alumni survey has been constructed
to obtain a direct measurement of the PEO achievement. The
threshold for the performance indicator of the PEO achievement
was set according to the defined KPIs. The BEE department also
has refined the competency areas that define each of the PEO,
and subsequently revised and design the questionnaires that
reflect to these competencies.
