The postgraduate program of Commerce was initially started in the former University College of Commerce in September1982; after ward in 1983 the classes were shifted to Department of Business Administration and the Department was renamed as Commerce and Business Administration Department (CBA). The Department was running under the Administrative control of CBA up to April 2006, but due to creation of so many programs, it was necessitated to establish a full fledged Department of Commerce apart from the CBA So the Department of Commerce was established on April 27, 2006.

The Department of Commerce is striving to provide a frame work within which all students are enabled to devote their academic, moral, physical and professional potentials.  The Department aims to promote the highest standards of academic excellence in teaching and learning while taking into consideration not only the educational needs but also to meet the cultural, potential, social and economic needs of the society. 

In the Modern complex world especially in the era of information technology and internet, changes take place rapidly due to emergence of new techniques and developments in Commerce, banking, information technology and industrial sectors.

These developments have resulted in the change of recruitment policies of employers against various managerial positions.  Now they tend to employ those graduates who possess the required skills and are equipped with the latest tools and techniques to tackle different business situations.  Thus to meet those challenges and to cater the needs of modern industry, information technology and global business the Department is presently offering M.Com and B.Com(Hons) program and from the forthcoming session M.Phil program will also be launched.

 

Objectives of the Department

1.                  To produce the future executives to fulfill the organizational needs.

2.                  To fill the gap of skilled and well experts within and out side the country.

3.                  To provide the maximum human resources for both i.e. Public and Private sector.

4.                  To compete with the forthcoming challenges faced by the country.

5.                  To move upward the rate of employment through producing management executives.

6.                  To eliminate the literacy gap in the field of marketing among the provinces.

7.                  To inculcate awareness in the students of Commerce regarding their activities in Marketing and Management.

8.                  At last but not the least, to come up with the real worth of evaluation in the field of Commerce is the motto of our department.

Pre- Requisite

 

Associate Degree in Commerce    FA/F.Sc/D.Com/DBA/A-Level/ICS/I.Com

For B.Com(Hons)                             FA/F.Sc/D.Com/DBA/A-Level/ICS/I.Com

For M.Com                                        B.Com/BBA,BA and B.Sc with the combination of at least          

                                                                two from Economics, computer, Statistics and Mathematics

For M.Phil                                           M.Com/B.Com (Hons)/MBA or Equivalent degree

 

Eligibility

1:         At least 2nd Division in Aggregate

2:         Age limit 25 years for admission to M.Com and 22 years for B.Com( Relaxable up to 5 years in genuine cases except admission against sports seat for which age is not relaxable.

3:         Entry Test relevant NAT (33%)
